Folder-Color allows you to change the color of folders

Folder Color is a simple tool that allows you to change the color of folders individually or globally. Using it, you can better navigate the folders or simply mark the desired folder. It also supports different icon theme such as Numix, Colors Vibrancy and Vivacious Colors, however, you can also try to use this utility with other icon themes.

Folder Color works with the following file managers: Nautilus, Nemo and Caja. For each file Manager, there is a separate package.
If we consider Linux Mint, it is currently suitable only Linux Mint Cinnamon and Linux Mint Mate.

As I mentioned above, you can set the colors individually for the folder or change the color globally. Recently the ability that lets you install emblem on the folder "favorite", "completed", "important" and "in process", so you can track your work with them. The app also allows you to set your own color if you don't want to use the available colors. You can revert changes by clicking the folder and selecting the option Default.

Installation latest version into Linux Mint:

For cinnamon

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:costales/folder-color
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install folder-color-nemo
nemo -q

If Folder Color is not visible in Nemo, use the following commands:
For 32bit:

sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libpython2.7.so.1 /usr/lib/libpython2.7.so.1.0
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libpython2.7.so.1 /usr/lib/libpython2.7.so.1; nemo -q

For 64bit:

sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libpython2.7.so.1 /usr/lib/libpython2.7.so.1.0
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpython2.7.so.1 /usr/lib/libpython2.7.so.1
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpython2.7.so.1 /usr/lib/libpython2.7.so.1
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libpython2.7.so.1.0 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpython2.7.so.1.0; nemo -q

For Mate

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:costales/folder-color
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install folder-color-caja
caja -q

If Folder Color is not visible in Caja, use the following commands:
For 32bit:

sudo ln -s /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/girepository-1.0/Caja-2.0.typelib /usr/lib/girepository-1.0/Caja-2.0.typelib; caja -q

For 64bit:

sudo ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/girepository-1.0/Caja-2.0.typelib /usr/lib/girepository-1.0/Caja-2.0.typelib; caja -q
