Supports native SVG developed by the W3C. SVG allows you to create images of various types, including animations. Because SVG is based on XML markup language, it is possible to write extensions than the Inkscape developers are actively using. Distributed under the GNU General Public License.

Native supports all main SVG elements: contours, text, markers, clones, alpha channel, transformations and gradients, textures and grouping. Inkscape also supports metadata Creative Commons, editing nodes, layers, complex operations with contours, bitmap tracing, text editing directly on the image, made-up figure in the text.
