The OTR Protocol that provides both message encryption and identity – that is, confirmation of the fact that nobody else is impersonating the person you want to chat. Loss of the encryption keys does not compromise your previous conversations.
In addition, one of the interesting features OTR is the inability to tie you to a specific conversation. The conversations is missing a digital signature and although during the interview you are sure that you communicate with the right person, anyone can create a set of messages, which will look like messages between any two users of the program. And if so, then to prove that a particular conversation were just you, it is impossible.
