How to connect Twilio service to your ONLYOFFICE

ONLYOFFICE is a free and open source office and productivity suite. Solution features online document editors, platform for document management, multiple business productivity tools like CRM, projects, mail, chat, calendar. Besides, you can extend ONLYOFFICE functionality connecting different third-party services, like Google Drive, Dropbox, Twitter, DocuSign, etc.

In this tutorial I will describe how to integrate ONLYOFFICE with the Twilio service, a cloud communications platform allowing users to programmatically make and receive phone calls and send and receive text messages using its web service APIs.

Integrating ONLYOFFICE with Twilio you will be able:

  • secure the access with 2-factor authentication;

  • call your customers directly from the CRM module.

Follow the instructions hereto install the latest version of ONLYOFFICE platform using docker-compose.

Get Twilio API credentials

Sign up for a Twilio account and go to the Twilio Console. Copy or write down the ACCOUNT SID and AUTH TOKEN located in the Project Info section of the Account Dashboard;

Connect Twilio to ONLYOFFICE

Go to the ONLYOFFICE admin Settings.Switch to the Integration settings and open Third Party Services.Click the switcher next to the Twilio service. Paste Account SID and Auth token and click the Enable button.

Enable VoIP functionality

Switch to the CRM module, go to its Settings, click the VoIP Settings and choose one of the available options to add virtual numbers: Buy phone number or Link purchased number if youalready purchased one. Set it up choosing the operator that should be able to use the selected number and enable outgoing calls and call recording using the appropriate switchers.

After that the CRM managers will be able to receive incoming calls and make outgoing calls.  Record all incoming and outgoing calls to be able to listen to the necessary call recording later and link this information to the appropriate contact in the client database.

    Thanks for the article. But I want to say that when I used this office I had problems opening large excel files. Several megabytes and OnlyOffice. Cannot open and use large files. Not good.

    Thanks for your comment. Now we are working on improving the opening of large files. It would be good if you send us the file you are using at [email protected]
