Laptop Mode Tools saves power by spinning down hard drives, and in addition, it can be configured to tweak all sorts of other power-related things.
There is support for auto turn this mode when the PC is powered by a battery. Also included support for various power management features, such as starting and stopping services, depending on the power mode, automatic falling asleep, if the battery level is very low, setting blanking the screen in the terminal and X11.
Laptop Mode Tools uses the ability of the Linux kernel – Laptop Mode, which can also be used to conserve power on workstations and servers.
Note. Before installing Laptop Mode Tools, you need to remove in order to avoid conflicts packages utility TLP (if it is installed on your system).
