NVIDIA has introduced a new release of the proprietary NVIDIA driver 346.35 for Linux. This is the first stable release of the new LTS branches with long term support.

Main features NVIDIA 346.35:
Added support for the following GPUs:
GeForce 800A
GeForce 800M
GeForce GTX 970M
GeForce GTX 980M
Added support xserver ABI 19 (xorg-server 1.17).
Improved compatibility with recent Linux kernels 3.17 and 3.18.
The control voltage on the GPU family of GeForce GTX 400 and newer.
Acceleration driver installation, thanks to multi-threaded build a kernel module.

Before downloading and installing new driver, make sure that your system has a supported NVIDIA GPU.
How to identify and install the correct driver for your Nvidia video card in Linux Mint can be viewed on page "How to detect and install the correct version of the Nvidia driver on Linux Mint". Otherwise, after you install the NVIDIA driver 346.35 you risk not to run the system.

Installation into Linux Mint:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nvidia-346

After installation, restart your computer to activate the installed driver.
After a new logon check the installed graphics driver utility NVIDIA X Server Settings, search in the menu or in the terminal command:

glxinfo | grep OpenGL
