Install JAVA 9 (JDK9) on Linux Mint

Java is a technology used to develop applications that make the Internet more fun and convenient. Java differs from programming language javascript, which is a simple technology to create web pages and runs only in the browser. This article will help you to install Oracle JAVA 9 on Linux Mint using the PPA.

With Java you can play games, upload photos, chat online, take a virtual tour and use of such services as distance learning, remote banking service and view interactive maps. If you have not installed Java environment, many applications and websites simply will not work.

Installation into Linux Mint:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/java
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install oracle-java9-installer

Setup Java environment
In the Webupd8 PPA repository, there is also a package for setting an environment variable, install this package using the following command:

sudo apt-get install oracle-java9-set-default
