Install MATE 1.8 desktop in Linux Mint 16 - This works!!!

Before I talk about this in my blog, I tested 2 times in a virtual machine, then try the same on the laptop, then on a home computer, everywhere this method worked.
So, let me tell you below how I installed mate 1.8

Important: any action you perform on your own risk!!! I encourage you to practice on a virtual machine!!!
1. So, first, let's add the repository
sudo add-apt-repository "deb http://repo.mate-desktop.org/archive/1.8/ubuntu saucy main"
2. Add information priority updates to the repository
echo "Package: *" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/preferences.d/pin-mate-repo && echo "Pin: origin repo.mate-desktop.org" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/preferences.d/pin-mate-repo && echo "Pin-Priority: 900" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/preferences.d/pin-mate-repo
3. Update the lists and upgrade
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
4. Starting the installation
sudo apt-get --yes --quiet --allow-unauthenticated install mate-desktop-environment mate-applets mate-panel mate-polkit-common
5. Fix broken packages
sudo apt-get -f install
6. Update the lists and upgrade
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
7. Install packages that are not installed and a couple of additional packages
sudo apt-get install mate-desktop-environment-extra caja-share mate-icon-theme-faenza mate-indicator-applet mate-system-monitor-common mate-system-tools-common pluma-doc
8. Update the lists and upgrade
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
9. Perhaps the terminal will write what is not updated some packages, in this case, do the update via the applet updates in the lower right corner

10. Reboot the system
sudo reboot
11. Update the lists and upgrade
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
That's all, at least I have it work without any glitches.
Good luck!!!
