This is my favorite GUI text editor for Linux, I use the Windows version all the time too. I also covered this topic here.
I'm using Mint Cinnamone installed on virtual machine VMWare. The instruction helped me to adjust my mouse scroll wheel speed. I set the value to 6. Now it's comfortable to use the mouse. Thanks a lot!

eXtended Screenshot is a tool for capture, edit, share and exchange screenshots between people via the internet.

eXtended Screenshot (xScreenshot) after start integrates in the notification area (system tray), you can take a picture of the entire screen or selection, immediate or delayed (specified in settings).

After shooting eXtended Screenshot opens the image in a simple editor that allows to crop the image, add shapes, strips, arrows, text (colors and fonts) and so on, so in the editor you can open and edit any image, including a blank (with specified size). All of the captured images in the editor window can be "layers" (screenshot is selected from the menu), "tile", "ladder" and randomly (distributed by the user).

xScreenshot can automatically add in a screenshot of the text or image (like "water" sign), save the screenshot in PNG or JPG. The image may be uploaded to the application server (, after you register and log in (Access key), screenshots will be available in the "My Screenshots" profile on the project website.
