Supports different video types (among which AVI, MPEG, MP4/MOV, OGM, ASF/WMV, VOB, MKV and FLV), there is a rich set of filters. Avidemux works fine with codecs x264, Xvid, LAME, TwoLAME, Aften and others.
Avidemux is written in C/C++, or GTK+, or Qt Toolkit to create a graphical interface or only command line interface.
Installation into Linux Mint:
First, add the GetDeb repository by running commands in a Terminal
Next, install the keys:
sudo sh -c 'echo "deb http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu xenial-getdeb apps" >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/getdeb.list'
Updated system packages and install video editor with plug-ins (2 commands):
wget -q -O- http://archive.getdeb.net/getdeb-archive.key | sudo apt-key add -
